Hello. Thanks for reading this book.
I don’t know how to write a book, so I wrote it just the way I wanted to: selfishly and extravagantly. Selfishly as if I was the only person who would ever read it, and extravagantly as if it was the only story I’d ever tell. I gathered my favourite things, all my pet fascinations (hotels, Christmas, public transport, death, talking cats, sprawling cities, gingers and jelly) and brewed them together like… weird tea.
The result was Nevermoor, a city that felt like it belonged entirely to me. Except now it belongs to you too, if you want it.
I hope you enjoy this book. I hope it makes you laugh, and I hope you find it a bit scary. But my dearest, most secret, most outrageous wish is that somebody reading these pages finds in them what Morrigan herself is searching for: a place to belong. A family. And friendships to last a lifetime.
